the small species sanctuary
The Small Species Sanctuary is thirty acres of land that was logged in the mid 1990′s. It was purchased in 2004. During the first two years the scotch broom was removed and ponds were dug. This was done by hand so as to be minimally invasive.

The Small Species Sanctuary is a Sanctuary of serenity, stillness, silence and surrender to the sacred in all beings. The intention is that it will be an example of how humans can integrate into the environment in a way that helps rather than harms the habitat.

This thirty acres is being made into a Wildlife Refuge Nature Heritage Garden Ecological Reserve with covenants to be placed that will protect it
forever.

Part of the vision is to create a small holistic vision quest sacred ceremonies habitat enhancement stewardship school eco theology caretaker consciousness retreat center.

the small species sanctuaryA core group Council of Custodians will be responsible for the Small Species Sanctuary but The Land itself will be the owner of The Land..

No human shall own this land ever again once it is transferred from the present human owner’s name. The owners will be the wind that wanders here,
the waters in which creatures wade, the birds, butterflies, voles, hawks owls salamanders lizards snakes frogs deer raccoons bats dragonflies eagles,
the trees and plants that grow here…..all the non human inhabitants of this thirty acre Sanctuary..

No human has a given right to actually own land. The land is our womb. It is from the land we are born, and unto it we return. We are all one family, the children, of this beautiful orb humans have named Planet Earth.

No creature is above another in sacred right to life and peace and home.

We are all Standing in Sacred Space.. walking upon holy land.. everywhere on this planet.

Of her flesh all is formed. Her breath is the breath of all that exists.

Everything must be done with great reverence and respect for all the beings that call this land their home.. From the salamanders and slugs and lizards and frogs and others that crawl and creep upon this sacred ground to those that dance upon four feet and those that soar thru the skies and those whose feet take root in the ground.

For we are them.. The same family.. The same flesh.. The same soul.. Their blood is ours.. Their eyes that see so much pain.. Show so much pain..
ours.. And it is their soft, sweet, so silent voice, for which this Land shall speak, thru our words and our actions.

We know that one person can’t take care of the whole planet, but if each person takes care of, rather than takes from, one place, then this whole
planet would be taken care of.. with conscious compassion.
